Publication Policy

General information:

Journal of One Health Research is an independent scientific journal focused on publishing in a single health field. The editorial policy of the journal is determined by the editorial board. All manuscripts submitted for publication are evaluated impartially by the editorial board and two referees. Information about the authors is blinded. The evaluations made by the referees are shared with the author. After editing, it is submitted to the referee evaluation again. In case of conflicting decisions from one of the referees, a third referee opinion is requested. Each submitted manuscript is not shared with anyone other than the confidential editorial board and referees and confidentiality is ensured.

The publication policy of our journal is detailed below:

Evaluation policy

Only articles that have been approved by each author and have not been previously published in another journal or submitted to another journal are considered.

Pre-checked articles are scanned for plagiarism using iThenticate software. After the plagiarism check, the Editor-in-Chief evaluates the eligible manuscripts in terms of originality, methodology, importance of the topic addressed and suitability for the scope of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the articles for their scientific content regardless of the ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious beliefs or political philosophy of the authors and ensures that the selected articles undergo a fair double-blind peer review.

Selected manuscripts are sent to at least two national/international referees for evaluation and the Editor-in-Chief makes the publication decision after the changes made by the authors in line with the referees' requests.

The Editor-in-Chief does not allow any conflict of interest between authors, editors and referees and is responsible for the final decision to publish the articles in the Journal.

The decisions of the referees should be objective. During the evaluation, reviewers are expected to comment on the following points.

1. Does the article contain new and important information?
2. Does the abstract clearly and accurately describe the content of the article?
3.Is the problem stated in an important and concise manner?
4.Are the methods comprehensively explained?
5.Are the interpretations and conclusions justified by the results?
6.Are there adequate references to other studies in the field?
7.Is the language acceptable?

Reviewers should ensure that all information about submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and should notify the editor if they are aware of copyright infringement and plagiarism on the part of the author.

A referee who feels that the subject matter of a manuscript is not sufficient to review it, or who knows that it will be impossible to review it quickly, should notify the editor and excuse himself/herself from the review process.

The editor will inform reviewers that the manuscript is confidential and that this is a special case.

Archive policy

Content published by Journal of One Health Research is protected electronically using Internet Archive.

Right of authorship policy

Each individual listed as an author on articles must meet the criteria for authorship recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). ICMJE recommends that authorship should be based on the following 4 criteria:

1) Significant contributions to the concept or design of the study or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the study;

2) Drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content;

3) Final approval of the version to be published;

4) Agree to be responsible for all aspects of the work to ensure that questions about the accuracy or completeness of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

In addition to being responsible for their own work, authors must have confidence in the integrity of their co-authors' contributions and each author must be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for other parts of the work.

All those identified as authors must meet all four criteria for authorship, and all those who meet all four criteria must be identified as authors. Contributors who contribute but do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged separately on the title page and in the Acknowledgments section at the end of the article.

If the editorial board of the Journal of One Health Research suspects "gift authorship", the submission will be rejected without further review. As part of the submission of the manuscript, the corresponding author must also submit a brief statement accepting full responsibility for authorship during the submission and review of the manuscript.

Complaints and appeals policy

Objections should be based on the scientific content of the article. Appeals and complaints are handled by the Editorial Board of the journal in accordance with COPE guidelines. The final decision on appeals and complaints is made by the Editor-in-Chief. An Ombudsman or Ethics Editor may be appointed to resolve cases that cannot be resolved internally. Authors should contact the Editor-in-Chief regarding their appeals and complaints by e-mail at editor@onehealthjournal.com.

Correction policy

If the editors or publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a material error or inaccuracy, the authors must immediately correct or retract the article, or provide evidence to the journal editors of the accuracy of the article.

Publication ethics policy

Ethics committee approval is required for each original research submitted to the journal. This approval will be specified in the article as the name of the ethics committee, the date and number of the approval and will be uploaded to the system during the uploading of the article. In case the study was conducted on humans, it should be stated in the article that an Informed Consent Form was obtained from the participating individuals. In case presentations, the statement that the case was informed that the information belonging to the case will be used for publication purposes will be stated in the text and the relevant document will be uploaded to the system.

The Editorial Board and Publisher of the Journal of One Health Research adhere to the principles of the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Medical Editors Association (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the US National Library of Medicine (NLM), the World Medical Association (WMA) and the European Association of Science Editors (EASE).

In accordance with the journal policy, all research studies require approval of research protocols by an ethics committee in accordance with the international agreements "WMA Declaration of Helsinki - Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects (last updated: October 2013, Fortaleza, Brazil)", "Guidelines for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (8th edition, 2011)" and/or "International Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Animals (2012)". If the submitted manuscript does not include ethics committee approval, it will be reviewed according to COPE's guidelines (Guidelines for Editors: Research, Audit and Service Evaluations). If the study requires ethical approval, authors will be asked to provide ethical approval so that the review process can continue. If they are unable to provide ethical approval, their manuscript will be rejected and their institution and, where necessary, relevant institutions in their country will be informed that such studies require ethics committee approval. If they give approval, the manuscript will continue to be reviewed.

If, after review by the editorial board, the study does not require ethics committee approval, the authors will be asked for ethics committee approval or a document issued by a relevant independent committee showing that the study does not require ethics committee approval according to the rules of research integrity in their country. If the authors provide either approval or a document showing that ethics approval is not required, the review process can continue. If the authors fail to provide both documents, the manuscript may be rejected.

For manuscripts on experimental research on humans, a statement indicating that the informed consent of patients and volunteers has been obtained following a detailed description of the procedures to which they may be subjected must be attached. The journal may request a copy of the Ethics Committee Approval from the relevant authority. Informed consent must also be obtained for case reports and clinical images.

Studies using human or animal subjects must be approved by the appropriate institutional and local Ministry of Health ethics committees. Ethical approval of research protocols is required for experimental, clinical and pharmaceutical studies, as well as for some case reports, in accordance with international agreements. Ethics committee reports or an equivalent official document can be requested from authors. For manuscripts involving experimental research on humans, a statement that written informed consent of patients and volunteers has been obtained must be included. For studies on animals, the measures taken to prevent pain and suffering of animals should be clearly stated. In the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript, a statement regarding patient consent and the name of the ethics committee, the date and number of the ethics committee approval should be stated. It is the authors' responsibility to carefully protect the anonymity of patients.

All submissions are screened at least twice using similarity detection software: at the time of submission and after revisions have been completed. In case of alleged or suspected research misconduct, such as plagiarism, citation manipulation or data falsification, the editorial board will follow and act in accordance with COPE guidelines. Plagiarism detected at any stage, including self-plagiarism, will result in rejection of the manuscript. All papers with a plagiarism percentage of 20% and above will be rejected outright.

Fee policy

Journal of One Health Research does not charge any submission fees, publication fees or page charges.

Funding sources policy

All authors are required to declare what support they have received to conduct their research. Declaring funding sources acknowledges the contributions of funders, fulfills funding requirements and promotes greater transparency in the research process.

Authors are obliged to declare any financial relationship or conflict of interest related to the work submitted for publication. Before each article is uploaded to the system, the "Conflict of Interest Form" on the journal's website must be filled out and uploaded. In addition, conflicts of interest related to referees and editors are checked by the editor-in-chief.

Each author must separately declare all sources of funding received for the research submitted to the journal. This information includes the names of the funding agencies, grant numbers, and a description of the role of each funder. If the funder played no role in the research, this should also be indicated.

Authors are not required to provide a full list of each grant that supported them if it is not relevant to the published research.

Withdrawal policy

In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism, the publisher, in close collaboration with the editors, will take all appropriate measures to replace the article in question. These measures include, in the most serious cases, immediate correction, disclosure or withdrawal of the affected work. The publisher, together with the editors, will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of articles in which research misconduct has occurred and will not, under any circumstances, encourage or knowingly permit such misconduct to occur.

Journal of One Health Research is committed to providing high quality articles and upholding publication ethics to advance the intellectual agenda of science. We expect our authors to adhere to best practices in publication ethics as well as in the quality of their articles.

Withdrawal of an article will only be allowed for the most compelling and unavoidable reasons. In order to withdraw an article, authors must submit an "Article Withdrawal Form" to the Editorial Office, stating the reason for withdrawal and signed by all authors. This form is available on the journal's web page. Authors should not assume that their manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive appropriate notification from the editorial office.

If the review process of a manuscript takes more than six months, this allows the author to withdraw the manuscript. In any case, if the author withdraws the manuscript, Journal of One Health Research will not accept manuscripts from the same author for one year.

Important Notes: Manuscripts may be withdrawn at any stage of the review and publication process by submitting a request to the editor. Once submitted, manuscripts will only be allowed to be withdrawn for the most compelling and unavoidable reasons.

If an author wishes to withdraw an article, he/she must submit a completed "Article Withdrawal Form", signed by all authors of the article, stating the reasons for withdrawal.

The article will not be withdrawn from the publication process until a completed and signed form is received by the editorial office. Authors should not assume that their manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive appropriate notification to that effect from the editor of the Anatolian Journal of Family Medicine.
