Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the thyroid autoantibody positivity of hypothyroid patients who applied to Kartal Dr Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Family Medicine Polyclinics between 1.01.2022 and 31.12.2022.

Method: The population of our descriptive study consists of patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism who applied to Kartal Dr Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Family Medicine Polyclinics between 1.01.2022 and 31.12.2022. The patients were scanned through the hospital information system. Age and gender information of the patients were recorded through the hospital information system. Thyroid autoantibodies were evaluated as positive or negative considering reference values.

Results: As a result of the study, 56.7% of the patients; anti TPO positivity and 20.9% (n=89) anti TG positivity. The rate of isolated anti-TPO positivity is 37.6%, and isolated anti-TG positivity is 1.7%. The rate of patients who are positive for both antibodies is 19.2%.

Conclusion: Thyroid autoantibody positivity depends on genetic and environmental factors. In this respect, different values can be obtained in different communities. There is a need for broad-based studies on this subject in our country.
